Panos Anastasiou
Panos Anastasiou, born Panagiotis Anastasiou (Παναγιώτης Αναστασίου) on 20 April 1982, is a musician, composer, guitarist, music producer, music teacher, sound engineer, and World of Warcraft addon developer. He commonly uses the name Panos Anastasiou (Πάνος Αναστασίου) for his creative work.
Music
His creative journey began in 1998, when he and his friend Michalis Vamvakas decided to create an FMV adventure game. Panos would compose the music, while Michalis would direct and edit the videos. With a little help from their friends, the project grew into an amateur creative group called Maik Productions, which continued to be used for different projects over the years.
To help him write the music for the game, Panos studied music for two years at a conservatory in his hometown. In 2000, he began university studies in a field unrelated to music, but music remained an important part of his life. Throughout the following decade, he continued composing for Maik Productions and wrote music for most of the group's videos, while also playing and composing with small groups formed with fellow students.
In 2010, he returned to formal music education at Philippos Nakas Conservatory, where he studied Jazz Harmony. This opened another chapter in his musical life and encouraged him to become more active as a musician, composer, and producer.
His work with music gradually expanded into several different areas. He composed music for a theatrical play and created remixes for events, combining composition and production with music made for a specific occasion or atmosphere.
Teaching also became part of his musical journey. Panos worked as a music teacher for two years at a conservatory and later taught for another year as a freelancer, sharing his knowledge and experience with students outside the classroom as well.
His experience was not limited to writing and teaching music. He also worked as a DJ in a café and became involved with live productions as a sound engineer. Over the years, he has worked on many different events, including theatrical plays, festivals, dance-school performances, and other live productions.
These different roles gave him the opportunity to experience music from several perspectives: writing it, producing it, performing and presenting it, teaching it, and making sure it sounds right when it reaches an audience.
Music remains at the center of his creative work. As an independent musician, he continues to write, produce, listen to, study, and explore music, always looking for something new to learn or create.
World of Warcraft
Alongside music, another world had been following him for many years: Warcraft.
His first Warcraft game was Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness. The Orc campaign, the Axe Throwers, and especially the trolls left a lasting impression. Warcraft III deepened his interest in the world, its lore, the Horde, the trolls, Arthas, and the story of the Lich King.
When World of Warcraft was released in Europe, Panos and a group of friends entered Azeroth together. He created a Troll Hunter and soon became the Guild Master of Eternal Legion, a guild originally formed on Crushridge and later transferred to Genjuros. During the original game and the expansions that followed, the guild progressed through raids including Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Zul'Gurub, Ahn'Qiraj, and later content from The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King.
During those years he changed class and became a Troll Priest, eventually serving as a healing raid leader. As the guild and the lives of its members changed, his relationship with the game also changed, moving between serious raiding and more casual play through the expansions that followed.
Near the end of The Burning Crusade, Panos discovered World of Warcraft addons. At first they were simply useful tools for raiding, but he quickly became fascinated by what they could do.
Over time, his interface accumulated status bars, icons, action bars, and other elements from different addons. Many of them worked well, but they did not always feel as though they belonged to the Warcraft world. He started modifying existing addons for his own use and, through that process, began learning how addons worked.
Eventually, modifying other people's work was not enough. He started learning how to create his own addons, and by Legion he was playing with an interface made almost entirely from his own tools, with the exception of Deadly Boss Mods. These included custom cast bars, personal buff tracking, cooldown tools, and other interface elements.
During Shadowlands, Panos reconnected with old university friends who were also playing World of Warcraft. To play with them, he changed faction, became a Night Elf, and moved to Ravencrest.
One of those friends later asked him to create an addon for the Auction House. He found the challenge interesting, built the addon, and gave it to her. She eventually suggested releasing it on CurseForge in case other players might find it useful.
That addon became Paras Book, his first officially released World of Warcraft addon.
Following the major interface changes introduced with Dragonflight, Panos began releasing more of the tools and ideas he had created over the years, including Funky Mojo Changer, Voodoo Casting Bar, and Sweet Sound of Auction House.
Those projects eventually developed into the Voodoo Da WoW family of addons. Instead of forcing players to install one large package, the addons remain modular so players can choose only the parts they want. Shared functionality lives in Voodoo Da WoW Core, while Voodoo Da WoW Suite brings the collection together for players who want the complete experience.
Today, music, games, code, writing, and experimentation all meet under Good Mojo Studio.
Different projects, perhaps—but all part of the same creative journey.
